Also directed by Mann, the production at the New Jersey venue will begin previews May 2, open May 9 and run through June 8. In addition to Sands, the company of Mann's adaptation of Chekhov's The Seagull will boast Jacqueline Antaramian, Morena Baccarin, Laura Heisler, Matthew Maher, David Andrew Macdonald, Brian Murray, Daniel Oreskes, Larry Pine and Maria Tucci. "With humor and relevance," press notes state, "Emily Mann exposes a culture of celebrity, appearance and money, telling the familiar and heartbreaking tale of a generation's betrayal of its children. With a modern Hamptons setting, A Seagull in the Hamptons provides an intimate look at an extraordinary story in this bold new adaptation of Chekhov's masterpiece." The creative team also includes Eugene Lee (set design), Jennifer von Mayrhauser (costume design), Jane Cox (lighting design), Baikida Carroll, (composer) and Karin Graybash (sound design). Playwright-director Mann is the artistic director of the McCarter Theatre Center. Her other plays include Execution of Justice; Still Life; Greensboro (A Requiem); Annulla, An Autobiography; and Mrs. Packard. Incidentally, another familiar daytime face is Larry Pine. I remember him best as Roger Gordon/Randolph Lord on OLTL but he was also on GL (Woody, the guy who died and Reva and Noah were carting him around a la Weekend at Bernie's) and AMC (Adam's lawyer, Barry Shire). Ellie ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Dream Cast Posted by Adam Immerwahr on April 6th, 2008 Every once-in-a-while, we get a cast together who is so exceptional (even by McCarter's lofty standards) that it's worth drawing specific attention to. For me, the cast of McCarter's A Seagull in the Hamptons is one of those dream casts: incredibly talented performers who have astonishingly impressive credits. Here's a brief run-down: Jacqueline Antaramian (Paula): Recently appeared in Stephen Wadsworth's Iphigenie in Tauride at the Metropolitan Opera opposite the incomparable Susan Graham and the legendary Placido Domingo-I saw it, it was great. In Philadelphia, she won the Barrymore Award for Leading Actress in a Play for her work in Nine Parts of Desire. Her Broadway credits include Coram Boy, Julius Caesar, and Wrong Mountain. Morena Baccarin (Nina): Okay, do you remember that cult-classic sci-fi TV show Firefly that was created by Joss Whedon (the dude who created Buffy the Vampire Slayer)? Well Morena played the character "Inara" (the "companion" aboard the ship) and also appeared in the movie version: Serenity. Okay, my sci-fi geek side comes out when I say that I totally love this show!! Morena's also a Juilliard grad with lots of theater credits, as well as plenty of film/TV creds. Laura Heisler (Milly): If you see a lot of theater in New York, you've certainly seen Laura Heisler, whose trademark deadpan brilliance has made her a crucial part of many hip, urban comedies by some of today's hottest emerging writers. Recently, you might have seen her in Doris to Darlene at Playwrights Horizons, The Mistakes Madeline Made at Naked Angels, BFF at Women's Expressive Theatre or, of course, The Nightshade Family at last year's New York Summer Play Festival. David Andrew Macdonald (Philip): If you're a soap watcher, you'll most definitely recognize David Andrew Macdonald who, in addition to several Broadway credits, appeared as the villainous Edmund Winslow on Guiding Light for six seasons (before his character was imprisoned for a host of nefarious activities). Matthew Maher (Harold): Is another terrific New York actor with tons of wonderful credits. He received the 1999 Obie Award for his work in The Race of the Ark Tattoo, and has recently been seen on stage in Hello Failure, Richard III, Coriolanus, and Have You Seen Steve Steven?. He has a recurring role on HBO's surfer show, John from Cincinnati. He's an Associate Artist with The Civilians and Salt Theater. Read on for the rest of the cast! Brian Murray (Nicholas): Okay. You remember Brian Murray, right? He was the Doctor in Me, Myself & I right here at McCarter. C'mon, it was only a few weeks ago!! Anyway, he's still one of the most brilliant actors in the world, with a slew of awards and Tony nominations to prove it. Daniel Oreskes (Lorenzo): If you're a fan of The Sopranos, you may remember Daniel as Principal Cincotta in episodes 35 ("The Telltale Moozadell") and 39 ("The Army of One"). Daniel first appeared at McCarter in 1998 in Electra as Aegisthus (a role he also played on Broadway), before originating the role of Pharoah in Disney's Aida on Broadway. Larry Pine (Ben): Besides the dozens of films and TV shows he has appeared in (including The Royal Tenenbaums, Vanya on 42nd Street and Maid in Manhattan), Larry Pine has a list of theater credits longer than I can even begin to describe, including highlights like appearing as Roy Cohn in Angels in America on Broadway and playing Donald Rumsfield in Stuff Happens at The Public Theatre. Stark Sands (Alex): If you follow these things, you undoubtedly noticed Stark Sands' Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play for his work in Journey's End (other nominees in his category included Ethan Hawke, Billy Crudup and McCarter's own Anthony Chisholm and John Earl Jelkes, both for Radio Golf). But you may have also seen Starke in Six Feet Under (as love interest to the teenager Claire Fischer) or in the awesome Charles Busch's film, Die Mommie Die!. Maria Tucci (Maria): Maria is a McCarter family member who has been absent far too long. Her McCarter credits include: Beyond the Horizon, The Heiress, The Winter's Tale, Hello and Goodbye and Between East and West. One of the finest theater actresses of her generation, Maria's New York credits include The Rose Tattoo (Tony nomination), The Trojan Women (Obie Award) and the recent Richard III at Classic Stage Company (I saw it, she was awesome). I have to look into getting tickets. I guess if he's in this show, he won't be at the Shakespeare Theater any time soon.

We will definitely be looking for him. Would you be able to let him know that my friends and I will be going to the 3 PM show on May 24th? If you tell him Mary, Stephanie and Vitina, he will know who you're talking about. Did he mention anything about being in any of the plays at the Shakespeare Theatre?
