Subject: Don't Make Edmund Evil Again!
Sexiest Man on Soaps
Guiding Light's Edmund is the most elegant, sexy man on soaps today, and I'm really going to blow a gasket if the writers of the show make him evil again. I mean, come on! You don't have to do that. What's wrong with a man who's good but has a dark side? The way I see it, Edmund is more interesting and viable if he stays a good guy. There'll always be that question lingering in the background--can he be trusted? If he reverts to the way his character was before falling for Cassie, he'll be too predictable. Don't kill his romantic appeal.

No To Jeffrey and Cassie
The last thing I want to see on GL is another dippy romance between Cassie and Richard/Jeffrey, but I fear that's where the storyline is going. I hope not, but it looks like the writers are going to make Edmund evil again. I'd really rather they go in another direction, but my gut instinct says that they want Cassie and Jeffrey together with Edmund--again--as the jilted lover with revenge on his mind. Personally, I love David Andrew Macdonald when he plays heroic.

The Dark Prince
I can understand the reasoning for making Edmund evil once more on GL. He was terrific at playing the dark prince of San Cristobel, and all soaps need evil characters to drive the plot. But here's why I think GL should back off in this instance: Edmund and Cassie! They are so good together and so real in their romantic scenes, it would be a shame to destroy that just for the sake of making him a troublemaker. The Edmund character can be a mix of good and bad, if you ask me.

This Pairing Works
When it first came about, I wasn't sure I liked the pairing of Edmund and Cassie, but I was wrong. I love them as lovers. They're magical together. I don't want to see them broken up because Edmund's involved in something illegal. It seems to me she can forgive him for whatever he's doing because he's not a Boy Scout and never pretended to be. Cassie went into this relationship with her eyes wide open, and I hope it's a sign of a new maturity on her part. If that's true, she'll stick with Edmund no matter how questionable his activities.

Long Live Romance
The chemistry between David Andrew Macdonald and Laura Wright is so good that it would be a downright shame to tamper with their on-screen romance just for the sake of making Edmund evil again. In Edmund, you have a very unique soap character. He can quote Shakespeare and read poetry and get away with it! Can you see any other current leading man who can pull that off? I can't, and I watch a few other shows, too. So, please, leave Edmund alone.

Enough Evil
There's more than enough evil characters, or characters with dark purposes, on GL. Why is it necessary to take Edmund and revert him into the nasty prince he was when he first came on the show? The storyline was so different then. We didn't know Edmund the way we do now. He was a shadowy figure who just wanted Richard's throne. Now, however, he's become a well-rounded character. It wouldn't be right to make him a two-dimensional shell of himself.

A Loving Influence
The GL powers that be will be making a terrible mistake if they choose to make Edmund evil. I don't think it would play realistically now because Cassie's love--more than anything--has made Edmund grow and evolve. If he's truly involved in all this drug business, then that means he's been lying all along not only to Cassie, but to us, the viewers. I sure hope that's not where this story is going.
